Total Watts

  1. I owned a NYC Sadowsky for a few years and enjoyed it. The fact that it was light weight, was a requirement for me. However the price they are selling for now is WAY over the top IMO. If I was buying a 'jazz' bass now, I would go for a Sire. My brother picked up a first generation model and I was knocked out by the finish, comfortable neck and excellent preamp. If had not been for the weight, I would have been quite happy to use it instead of the Sadowsky.
  2. I owned a NYC Sadowsky for a few years and enjoyed it. The fact that it was light weight, was a requirement for me. However the price they are selling for now is WAY over the top. If I was buying a super jazz now, I would go for a Sire.
  3. His very first build was for Steve Vai https://www.vai.com/steves-ultra-zone-emerald-guitar/
  4. Many years ago I tried out a Spector in a London store and tried my 'wickety wickets' slap style. The sales guy was 'wow you are some player' no doubt hoping his words would help with a sale. I knew I was total shite, put down the bass and walked out
  5. Pulled the trigger on one of these this afternoon
  6. Can anyone enlighten as to the approximare weight of these J / P basses ?
  7. After hearing a uk 'porky' vinyl cut of Deep Purple's 'Made in Japan', my jaw was on the floor because of its sonic bliss. Recorded for peanuts and no overdubs apparently.
  8. I was waiting for some mega slap fills to kick in, but thankfully no. Standard 2 finger picking technique and groove ++. Love it!
  9. As a general query, in the case of having to replace a bassist in a decent touring band. How quickly can it be done? I am retired from the 'weekend warrior' circuit and know very little theory. Could a competent player walk in and sight read there and then?
  10. I have used this technique for taking dents out of 2 fretboards (maple and rosewood). Worked a treat.
  11. I used to have a Larkin fretless bass many years ago. Superb instrument in every way and a big mistake moving it on. This is a stone cold bargain. GLWS
  12. 'Get the funk out' by Extreme and 'Sweet Emotion' by Aerosmith. We were a classic rock covers band, but these two tunes got zero reaction
